Eggcracker Reader — Privacy Policy

Eggcracker Reader (“the extension”) provides a clean, text-only view of webpages when the user requests it. We respect your privacy and do not store, sell, or share any personal information.

1. Information We Collect

Eggcracker does not collect or store personally identifiable information. The extension does not access your emails, passwords, financial data, messages, browsing history, or any sensitive personal information.

The extension only accesses:

• active tab URL — only when the user clicks the extension button
• page text — temporarily, to generate a summary

No information is stored on servers. All processing is request-based and ephemeral.

2. How We Use Information

The extension sends the URL or extracted text to Eggcracker's server only to:

• extract readable text
• generate a text summary requested by the user

This data is never logged, sold, profiled, or shared.

3. No Third-Party Sharing

We do not share or transfer any user data to third parties. We do not use advertising, tracking, or analytics systems.

4. Permissions Explanation

The extension requests only the minimal permissions required:

• activeTab — to read the current page URL when clicked
• tabs — required by Chrome for activeTab functionality
• host permissions — to fetch article content for summarization

The extension only interacts with the tab the user explicitly chooses.

5. Data Retention

Eggcracker does not retain any data. All processing happens live and nothing is stored.
